art as a game.
The so-called non-artists turned to creating art that had soft obscenities, scattered humor, visible puns and everyday objects. The most outrageous painting was created by Marcel Duchamp, when he painted a mustache on a copy of Mona Lisa and scribbled obscenities under it. He also created his sculpture called Fountain, which was actually a urinal without the plumbing and it had a fake signature. This art movement was a protest, but at the same time it managed to be enjoyable and amusing. It was sarcastic, colorful, quirky and silly. If a person at that time had not been aware of the logic behind the movement, he or she would have been wondering what the artist was up to creating pieces like the ones that were created. However, the artist who created the Dada art was very serious about his work. (Pauline Go. Retrieved from http://www.dadart.com/dadaism/dada/020-history-dada-movement.html)
exquisite corps
Starting as a surrealist technique was also really a common one among the group of artists of the Dadaist movement: Among Surrealist techniques exploiting the mystique of accident was a kind of collective collage of words or images called the cadavre exquis (exquisite corpse). Based on an old parlor game, it was played by several people, each of whom would write a phrase on a sheet of paper, fold the paper to conceal part of it, and pass it on to the next player for his contribution.
Let´s play so! Follow the directions: Use a sheet of block paper. Write a phrase without showing it to anyone. Fold the paper so nobody can see what you wrote. Give to the person next to you. At the end the common poem will be read by the teacher, sharing it to all the class. You can also submit for the Exquisite Corpse webpage to collaborate and play within this project. what is da da
